Boho Waves Rug | Free Crochet Pattern

So, I was at Hobby Lobby looking at yarn (my favorite reason to get out of the house) and I saw their Yarn Bee Sugarwheels.  I’ve seen a little bit about them online but hadn’t tried them out yet.

After looking through the colors I decided my favorite was the one called Minted Macaroon and I grabbed one.  I didn’t really have a plan for it and I hoped some inspiration would hit me once I got home, and it did!

In my opinion, the yarn is a little stiff for a garment, but I thought it would be perfect for a rug!  So I played around and came up with this Boho Waves rug pattern.

I’ve been kind of obsessed with granny ripples lately.  I thought why not try it for a rug! I added the white granny triangles in the valleys of the ripple to make it rectangular, made a border and some fringe and voila!

I’m really happy with how it turned out! Now I want to come up with more boho style decor. I love an excuse to put fringe on something!

Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Ivory

Make 8 small triangles and 5 large triangles

Row 4: Ch 4, (dc 3, ch 1 in ch 1 space) in next three spaces, (dc 3, ch 3, dc 3) in ch 3 space, ch 1, (dc 3, ch 1 in ch 1 space) in next three spaces, dc to top of ch 4, finish off.

Put it all together

With a tapestry needle threaded with the Ivory yarn, sew the triangles to the valleys on the edges of the rug as shown in the picture below.

How to assemble boho waves crochet rug

Sc evenly around whole rug edge, sc 3 in each corner (Be sure to crochet over all your ends so you don’t have to weave them in later!), turn.

Ch 3, dc in each sc around, dc 3 in corners (the 3 dc will go in the middle stitch of the 3 sc in each corner). Sl st to top of ch 3, finish off.

Make fringe

Again, use I Love This Yarn – Ivory

Cut a lot of 8-inch pieces of yarn.

The amount you need will vary depending on how many stitches you have on each side. I just cut several pieces and attached them and then cut some more until all the stitches on each side were fringed.

To attach the fringe, fold your piece of yarn in half, take your hook and insert it into the stitch from the bottom and pull the folded end through, then pull the ends of the folded piece through the loop and pull it tight.

Do this in each stitch on the short sides of the rug.
