Supplies You’ll Need
For this project I used some soft and cozy Lion Brand Heartland Yarn in the colors Grand Canyon and Badlands.
(The colors in this picture below are not the ones I used for this project, FYI.)
Heartland Yarn by Lion Brand is wonderfully soft and it comes in beautiful colors inspired by national parks and nature. It's 100% acrylic and a great choice for all kinds of projects.
You won’t need a full skein of either color of yarn. The accent color used for the hearts is a very small amount, so that’s a great way to use up some scrap yarn you might have laying around!
I also used a Furls 5.00 mm hook (size H).
The crochet hooks are not only super comfortable and ergonomic, but they're also beautiful works of art! Furls crochet hooks come in all sorts of beautiful colors, and they have a lovely natural wood line that is so wonderful to use.
These hooks are life changing! They’re so comfortable to use, especially if you struggle with arthritis or hand cramping.

Skill Level
Easy
(Confident beginners should be able to make this project, just be sure to follow along with the video. You’ll need to have a grasp of all the basic stitches.)
Stitch Key
- ch – chain
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- sl st – slip stitch
- sk(d) – skip(ped)
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- CL – cluster stitch (see special stitches below)
- BLO – back loop only
- FPsc – front post single crochet
- FO – finish off (cut yarn, pull tail through loop on hook and give it a pull to tighten up the knot)
Special Stitches
Cluster stitch – (yo, insert hook into st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook) 3 times in same st, yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook.
Notes
When you’re making the cluster stitches for the hearts, you’ll be inserting the hook through the hdc stitch going under the third loop.
This makes the cluster come down a little further and gives the heart a more pointed shape on the bottom.
We’ll be working the bottom row of ribbing for 33 rows. Then, you’ll turn the ribbing and single crochet along the long edge to begin the main part of the cozy.
